Henryton Hospital Follow-Up

The Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department is pleased to hear that funding earmarked for the securing and razing of the abandoned Henryton State Hospital remains in the recently-passed state budget.

Delegate Susan Krebs confirmed today that over three million dollars has been allocated for the project. She was responding to published reports quoting fire department officials who were concerned about the status of that funding.

The department has always enjoyed the strong support of our local delegation, and we are thankful to Delegate Krebs and her colleagues for their assistance.

The department also looks forward to the day when the Henryton State Hospital no longer poses a danger to public safety and the community.
