Sykesville firefighters, along with crews from Carroll and Howard counties, assisted Winfield in fighting a house fire in windy conditions in Woodbine, Sunday morning, April 3.
The incident was dispatched shortly after 7:00 AM to a house in the 7600 block of Morgan Road. Lisbon Engine 4-1 and Sykesville Tower 12 were the first units to arrive, finding heavy fire blowing from the rear of the home. Additional engines were requested to the scene, along with a rapid intervention dispatch and a tanker task force, due to the lack of hydrants in the area.
Rescue Squad 12 and Engine 124 responded to the scene, with the squad crew assuming the role of the rapid intervention team. Engine 124 positioned itself in line to supply water, if necessary, while the crew assisted on the fireground.
The occupants of the home escaped safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
