2nd Alarm Building Fire

On Thursday June 15, 2017, at 2:45 PM, Tower 12 responded on the second alarm building fire at 1010 South Main Street in Mt, Airy. Units from Mt. Airy were already on the scene reporting a large commercial structure with fire through the roof. As Tower 12 approached the scene command advised to make access to the rear of the building and setup to flow the master stream.

Tower 12 positioned to the rear of the building and and crews went to work setting up the ladder and connecting a hose line to supply the water way.

Tower 12 crew as wells as other crews on the rear of the building were exposed to high heat and low visibility due to the smoke. The crew from Tower 12 worked well into the night assisting other crews with suppressing the fire.

Medic 127 filled in the Mt. Airy station for the duration of the call.
