Vacant Building Fire

Yesterday evening Sykesville Fire and EMS units along with Fire units from mutual aid departments were dispatched to the area of Henryton Road and Marriottsville Road in Marriottsville for a reported building on fire.

First arriving units from Sykesville found a large vacant building that was divided up into three section on the property of the former Thomas O’Farrell Youth Center with fire showing from all three structures.

Engine 124’s crew went to work advancing attack lines and knocking down fire on the exterior of the structure. Tower 12 arrived and assisted fire attack with opening up the exterior walls.

Additional crews arrived and assisted with searches, overhaul and fire attack.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 45 minutes. Crews worked for several hours extinguishing hot spots and assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
