Sykesville's Junior Firefighters took part in the annual Carroll County Junior Day, which is a day filled with competitive events and Firefighter/EMT training.

Over one-hundred (100) junior firefighters from Carroll County participated on Saturday, September 20th.

The competitive events this year were Donning of Gear, Hose Hook Ups and Bucket Brigade. The Sykesville Juniors took first place in Hose Hook-Ups and Bucket Brigade! In addition, they took first place overall for the first time in Sykesville's history!

In addition to the events, every Junior was able to go through the maze, which was a first for a lot of them. They also did ladder training, search and rescue training, rappelling and rope training, and were given lessons on basic EMS training (how to backboard and bandage and wrap various injuries).

It was a beautiful day and everyone came together and worked as a team, we are proud to have one of the largest and most active Junior Fire Departments in Carroll County, and are very proud of all of our juniors!
