Sykesville-Freedom District firefighters, assisted by crews from neighboring departments, fought a house fire early Tuesday morning, May 8th in Sykesville.

The fire at the home in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue was reported at 2:04 AM. Fire Chief Eddie Ruch, Jr. arrived on the scene within moments and reported a "working" fire, with fire through the roof of the home.

The crew from Sykesville's Engine 123 immediately went to work on an aggressive attack of the fire, while the crew from Tower 12 assumed search and ventilation duties. Those crews would be assisted in short order by firefighters from other arriving departments.
