2-Alarm Building Fire

On Thursday night at 10:24 PM, Sykesville Fire and Rescue units along with Fire units from Baltimore and Howard County were dispatched to the 1700 Block of Liberty Road in Eldersburg for reported smoke coming from the building.

Tower 12 was returning from an earlier chimney fire and was first on the scene reporting smoke coming from the building and requesting the working fire dispatch. Chief 12 arrived and assumed the command and advised Engine 123 to lay a supply line in from the hydrant located in front of Denny's.

Crews began advancing hoselines, placing ladders, and forcing entry into the individual spaces within the strip mall. The crews from Tower 12 along with Baltimore County Truck 18 went to the roof and began opening up to prevent the fire from spreading.

A 2nd alarm was called for bring more units to the scene due to the extreme cold weather conditions.

The fire was contained to one of the business and the roof area of the strip mall. The other businesses suffered water and smoke damage throughout.

Crews operated on the scene for several hours checking for fire spread before clearing .
