On Saturday just after 4:00 PM, Sykesville Fire Units were dispatched to the area of Ridge Road and Bevridge Road in Marriottsville for a reported woods fire. Brush 125, Engine 123 and Engine 124 responded. Units arrived in the area and found smoke coming from the woods.

After several minutes fire units located the fire and started to develop a plan to make access to the area where the fire was located. Several crews on foot with hand tools made the walk across the field and down in to the woods to try and stop the fire that was burning several acres. Brush 125 pulled a 3inch line from Engine 123 across the field to the wood line. With the fire down in the woods and no access for vehicles the 3inch line had to be extended down into the woods. Once the line was extended into the woods the crews attached two 1 ¾ inch attack lines and went to work extinguishing the fire.

Crews from Howard County Station’s 3, 4, 8, and Baltimore County Station 46, where alerted and responded to the scene to assist. Crews remained on the scene for approximately four hours extinguishing the fire and making sure all hot spots where out.
