1st Due Vacant House Fire

At 3:00 AM this morning Sykesville Fire and Rescue Units along with Mutual Aid Units from Carroll, Baltimore, and Howard Counties were dispatched to the 5600 block of Bartholow Road in Eldersburg for a reported house on fire. While units were responding they were advised that they had received numerous calls and also the house may be vacant. Engine 123 arrived on the scene and laid 800 feet of four inch hose from a fire hydrant on Bartholow Road to the front of the house. The house was two stories and was fully involved in fire.

The crew from Engine 123 and Tower 12 advanced numerous attack lines and from a defensive position started to extinguish the fire. Engine 131 arrived and assisted with fire attack and overhaul. Remaining units on the scene and units still responding were placed in service. A Fire Marshal was requested and responded to the scene to conduct and Origin and Cause Investigation.

Crews operated on the scene for several hours before returning to quarters.
