On Saturday October 4, 2014, Sykesville Fire and Rescue Units responded to Route 97 and Hoods Mill Road for reported vehicle collision with entrapment. First arriving units reported a vehicle off the roadway and on its side with two subjects trapped. Units also reported that the vehicle collision was on Route 97 just inside Howard County.

Rescue Squad 12 arrived on the scene and went to work stabilizing the vehicle so that crews could remove the roof from the vehicle to gain entry to the two subjects trapped. Howard County Engine 131 arrived on the scene and assisted Rescue Squad 12's crew with extrication.

Once the subjects were removed from the vehicle they were placed into waiting ambulances and transported to the helicopter landing site where Trooper 3 was waiting.
