On Sunday March 22, 2015, Sykesville Fire Units along with Mutual Aid units responded to 7800 Block of Kabik Court in Woodbine for an unknown type fire near a diesel fuel tank.

Howard County Engine 131 arrived on the scene and report smoke showing from a large unmarked tank. The crew from Engine 131 advanced a 1 3/4 attack line and started to cooling the tank. Engine 124 arrived and laid a 5inch supply line back the drive way to Howard Engine 131.

Crews went to work trying to identify the contents of the tank when management arrived and advised the tank only contained water. The black smoke coming from the tank vent turned out to be an overloaded oil burning furnace that was used to heat the water in the tank. Crews ventilated the building of the smoke and checked for fire extension.

Units operated on the scene for approximately one hour before returning to quarters.
