Easter Day Field Fire

On Easter Day just after 3:30 PM, Brush 125 and Engine 123 responded to a field fire in the area of 2200 Jim Kohler Road. Brush 125 and Engine 123 arrived to find several acres of field and woods on fire. After sizing up the scene crews on the scene requested additional units and manpower to assist with containing and extinguishing the fire.

Additional crews from Carroll, Howard, and Baltimore County responded to the scene to assist. Crews were able to contain the fire to several acres of field and woods. Crews remained on the scene for several hours extinguishing hotspots and assisting the Fire Marshal.

Howard County Engine 41 form the Lisbon Fire Department filled in at Sykesville doing the incident.

The Sykesville Fire Department reminds all residents to use extreme caution with control burns on days that the fire danger is high and extremely windy.
