At the 123rd Annual Convention and Conference in Ocean City in June, four of our members were recognized for their years of outstanding service and commitment to the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department and nominated for the prestigious Marbery F. Gates Service Cup, an award which recognizes 50 consecutive years of faithful service. Since those members were not able to attend the convention, MSFA 2nd Vice President Mark Bilger and Past SFDFD Chief Leon Fleming were on hand at our July membership meeting to present plaques and Governor’s citations and honor the following:

Glen Whiteman – 62 years of service
Richard Howes – 59 years of service
Ralph Henson – 58 years of service
David Hoff – 50yrs service
