The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, began in 1984 an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. NATW’s National Night Out program culminates annually, on the first Tuesday of August. This year at National Night Out, members of SFDFD will be promoting the message "Smoke Alarm Safe lives" by handing out (1) "Free" 10 years Lithium battery Smoke Alarm to residents who live in Eldersburg/Sykesville (ID will be required to obtain a free smoke alarm) Come learn more about Smoke Alarms and proper placement and home fire safety education. Members will also be showing fire/ems equipment and tools. Fire Hats and goody bags will also be given away.
