| The men and women of the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department send our thoughts and prayers to our brothers and sisters of the West Friendship Fire Department after an accident left an EMS officer from the department in critical condition. 21 year old Petrus Lucas of Glenwood was acting as an Auxiliary Howard County police officer and directing traffic at an accident scene, Wednesday evening, November 23. Police say that while Petrus was directing traffic on Route 40 near the intersection of Pebble Beach Drive, an SUV struck him and pinned him between the SUV and his vehicle. Lucas was flown to Shock Trauma by a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter. He was last listed in critical condition. Lucas is an EMS lieutenant with West Friendship. We offer our best prayers and thoughts for his recovery; and we stand ready to assist our brothers and sisters at West Friendship in their time of need. |
