Just after 6 pm on 1/10 the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department along with Gamber Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a odor of burning on the second floor of a house on Compton Lane.

Engine 123 Tower 12 and Duty 12 responded. Duty 13 was in the area and arrived with nothing evident.

As crews entered engine 123 reported minor smoke on the second floor. The problem was isolated to the air handler in the attic with no fire. Crews secured power to unit and ventilated the structure.

Crews were on scene approximately 30 minutes before returning to service.
