Fire crews battled a garage fire in Sykesville early Friday, 2/25/22.

Around 12:30 AM, Sykesville and surrounding units were alerted for the possible building fire. The on duty paid staff and 12 volunteers responded with Engines 123 and 124 Tower 12, Medic 127 Chief 12 and Chief 12-1.

While enroute Carroll Communications advised Chief 12 they had received approximately 10 calls about the fire. Chief 12 arrived to find a detached garage fully involved with fire.

Crews from Sykesville and Howard County Station 3 (West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department) deployed 2 handlines and started knocking down the fire. The tower crew made sure the fire did not extend into the house. Crews quickly knocked down the fire and the incident was able to be scaled back to Sykesville units.

Crews operated on scene for approximately 2.5 hours before returning to the station to clean up equipment and apparatus.
