The members of the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department join together in mourning the loss of our friend and life member, Bob Platt.

For years, Bob was a fixture at the firehouse, where he was active in many activities. When a new member was voted into the department, it was Bob who escorted them before the membership to be greeted. He was also a skilled electrician and used his talents on many projects for the department.

In later years, he and his friend Ralph Henson would hold court each day at the firehouse, sharing the day's concerns and opinions with the on duty crews and volunteers. We can only imagine the conversations going on around the coffee table today.

We thank Bob for his friendship and his many years of service to the department. Rest easy, brother. We'll take it from here.
