Shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 11/15, Sykesville units responded to their second house fire of the day, again assisting Gamber & Community Fire Company in the 4300 block of Poole Road.

Tower 12, Engine 124, Rescue Squad 12 and Medic 127 responded with six volunteers and Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS of Maryland career personnel out of Station 12.

Engine 124 was assigned to a water supply position at Gamber Station 13 to fill apparatus. Tower 12's crew performed search duties and pulled walls and ceilings to check for fire extension.

There were no injuries reported, and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The incident is another example of how the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department relies on its volunteers to carry out its mission of protecting the community.
