At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, Engine 124, Tower 12 and Rescue Squad 12 were alerted to assist Winfield on the reported pickup truck fire next to a building off of Klee Mill Road.

Winfield Engine 141 arrived to find a fully involved pickup truck in proximity to both an auto repair shop and several large propane tanks. Chief 12-2 (Polikoff) arrived as Battalion Chief 3 and assumed command in front of the building.

Engine 141 laid out supply line from Klee Mill Road into the scene and Engine 124 did a reverse lay to the hydrant. Baltimore County Engine 464 arrived to complete the lay to the hydrant.

Tower 12's crew threw a ground ladder to the building as a precaution while the building was checked for any fire extension. Class "B" foam was applied to the stubborn fire to extinguish the flames.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. There were no injuries.

Approximately a dozen Sykesville volunteers responded to the call, along with Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS career staff out of Station 12.
