Shortly after 730 am on 4/25. Units from Sykesville and surrounding companies were alerted for a building fire at the Springfield Hospital Center. Crews arrived and found a working fire with fire through the roof of one of the vacant buildings.

Due to the amount of fire, and condition of the building a decision was made to operate defensively. Tower 12 was set up and started flowing on the fire. With the amount of fire Baltimore County Truck 18 was also set up and flowed into the building as well.

As crews started fighting the fire it was noticed smoke coming from a second building. A small fire in the second building was located and quickly extinguished. Once extinguished crews checked the other building to confirm no other fire in any of the other buildings.

Another challenge crews had was multiple hydrants out of service. A second alarm and tankers were requested to help with the second building and water supply. Crews operated for 3.5 hours extinguishing the fire. The scene was turned over to State Fire Marshal for further investigation.

Along with our CCDFEMS partners 12 volunteers from Sykesville responded. Sykesville units that responded
