Carroll County is currently preparing for a winter storm to hit the County. The Sykesville Fire Department is preparing all equipment and apparatus to for the storm. Personnel will be staffing the station throughout the event to handle all calls for service.

Reminder to all residents that if you have a fire hydrant located near your home please make sure that the snow is cleared away so that responding personnel can locate it.

Comments:
Update, main change is to correct end time of warning and refine snow accumulation. Snow will move into the county from the south about 9-10 pm this evening.

Total Snow Accumulation:
6-12 inches, except 12-15 inches in the northwest part of the county. NOTE: there may be a period of sleet, freezing rain and rain for a time Thursday, in the southeastern part of the county.


Snow Probability Potential:
100% chance of 2" or more. 95% chance of 4" or more. 80% chance of 6" or more. 70% chance of 8" or more. 55% chance of 12" or more.

Snow Type:
Dry Becoming Wet.

Untreated Road Conditions:
Main roads: Snow Covered. Secondary roads: Snow Covered.

Heavy Snow Will Begin: 2 a.m. Thursday
Heavy Snow Will End: 11 a.m. Thursday
