A Randallstown teenager was killed and two others were injured in a three-car crash on the Route 26 bridge over the Liberty Reservoir, Monday morning, June 12.

Maryland State Police say a westbound car on Route 26 was attempting to pass a car on the two lane road when the car was struck head on by an eastbound SUV. Both cars were then hit by an eastbound minivan.

State police identified the victim in a press release as 16 year old Tamara Alston.

Sykesville fire units were dispatched at approximately 6:45 am for the crash. Because of the reports of the severity of the accident, Deputy Chief Ed Ruch, Jr. requested the State Police medevac to respond as fire units left the station.

Arriving on the scene, firefighters from Squad 12 worked to stabilize the vehicles, while the EMS crew from Paramedic 128 checked the drivers for injuries.

Crews were able to determine the fatality in the westbound vehicle, and sent the other two drivers to the hospital via ambulance and MSP Trooper 8.

Because of the fatality, the Maryland State Police CRASH team was requested for an accident reconstruction, which took several hours.

There was a minor runoff of some vehicle fluids off of the bridge and into the reservoir. The Maryland Department of the Environment was called as a precaution.

The men and women of the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
