| On Saturday July 15, 2006 Sykesville fire and EMS personnel participated in various water rescue training exercises at the Freedom Swim Club in Eldersburg.
Firefighters practiced personal survival techniques and victim rescue; and completed scenario based activities. All of the exercises enforced the importance of teamwork and communication with the emphasis on firefighter safety. It was a unique opportunity for the members of the department and served as an enjoyable way to learn and practice the training material.
The Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department would like to extend a special "Thank You" to The Freedom Swim club for their generosity and hospitality. The training would not have been possible without the use of their facility.
The department would also like to thank Lt. Charlie Green and the members of The Gamber & Community Fire Department who filled in at Station 12 for the duration of the drill. The Station 13 crew assured that the emergency needs of the community were met, while Sykesville personnel participated in uninterrupted training. |
