Station 12 Participates In Howard County Training Burn

Sykesville firefighters were invited to take part in a live fire training exercise at a vacant home in Howard County on Sunday, September 12, 2004.

The West Friendship Fire Department hosted the excercise, led by Chief Mickey Day. The home on Mink Hollow Road was to be razed to make way for a new home.

Fires were set in several rooms on the first floor and in the basement, allowing fire crews opportunities to experience many different situations in an environment that is as real as it gets.

The training is especially invaluable to newer members who get the opportunity to experience firefighting in a "controlled" training exercise.

In addition to Sykesville and West Friendship, Clarksville and Lisbon firefighters took part in the exercise. We thank West Friendship and Chief Day for the opportunity.
