Sykesville Fire and EMS responded to a one vehicle crash on Ridge Road that forced the shutdown of the road for hours, Tuesday, October 17.

Arriving units found a single vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole. The force of the crash had moved the base of the pole out of alignment, causing the wires above to ignite the pole.

EMS crews assessed the driver of the car, while fire crews quickly requested BGE to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and traffic was re-routed.

BGE crews spent the next several hours replacing the pole, forcing the temporary closure of Ridge Road.

Units: Sykesville Squad 12, Engine 123, Paramedic 128
