Two people were injured in a head-on crash involving two cars on Route 32 near Gamber, Thursday afternoon December 6.

The driver of a southbound car told emergency workers he was falling asleep at the wheel at the intersection of Bollinger Mill Road around 4:30 pm. His vehicle drifted across the center line into the path of a northbound car. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing severe damage to both cars.

While the driver of the southbound car suffered a minor hand injury, the driver of the northbound vehicle was trapped. Gamber fire and EMS personnel arrived on the scene and began to treat and extricate the driver.

Sykesville's Rescue Squad 12 arrived a short time later and assisted with the rolling of the dashboard to allow access to the driver. Crews were able to extricate the driver in about 15 minutes time. He was taken by MSP helicopter to Shock Trauma for treatment of his injuries.
