Sykesville fire and EMS crews handled a serious, head-on crash at the intersection of Route 32 and Springfield Avenue.

As crews arrived on the scene, they discovered a head-on crash with two cars involved. One of the vehicles was overturned and on fire, and the other vehicle's driver was trapped.

Engine 124's crew extinguished the fire (the driver had self-extricated himself before the fire department's arrival), while the remaining crews went to work on extricating the driver of the other car.

The trapped woman was successfully extricated in short order and treated by EMS crews. Both drivers were transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Units: Sykesville Paramedics 128 & 129, Engine 124, Rescue Squad 12
