| This evening Sykeville Firefighters and Paramedics stayed busy after a fast moving storm moved through the area. After a near by lightning strike the traffic lights were out of service at the intersection of Liberty Rd and Johnsville Rd. Maryland State Police and Carroll County Sheriffs Deputies were on the scene directing the rush hour traffic when a pickup truck slid through the intersection hitting a retaining wall. The male occupant was transported with minor injuries. Police were investigating.
A short time later, crews were dispatched to a reported house struck by lightning. While units were on the scene investigating, another call was dispatched for a pedestrian struck on Sykesville Rd and Circle Dr. Units arrived to find a male that had been hit by a tractor trailer. Paramedics worked on the male patient and sent him via Maryland State Police Helicopter to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Maryland State Police CRASH investigators along with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement units were on the scene investigating.
All of the above incidents occurred within and hour and personnel were still able to respond to several medical calls in the area as well. |
