Sykesville traffic on Rt32 was brought to a near standstill on Monday, October 20th at 4:30 P.M. due to a multivehicle crash. Medic 128, Squad 12 and Engine 124 were alerted for a multivehicle crash at the intersection of Rt32 and Londontown Blvd. Lieutenant 12-2 was the first on the scene reporting that six vehicles were involved along with a working rescue with one trapped in a car after a collision with a dump truck. Additional calls were placed for another medic unit, engine and helicopter to assist and transport the injured. Extrication proved difficult as the dump truck's front right wheel had rolled into the rear passenger compartment. The patient was quickly extricated by Rescue Squad 12's crew. Maryland's updated EMS protocol was activated and Trooper 5 transported the injured to Shock Trauma after consultation with the hospital. Medic 129 and Gamber's Engine 134 assisted with the transport.

Fuel leaking from the dump truck's saddle tanks prompted a full HazMat response with Hazmat 30, spill trailer 30 along with several HazMat technicians from around the county as well as response from Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) emergency response team. Fuel from the dump truck was offloaded at the scene due to the possibility of the tank rupturing when the truck was lifted off of the car. A&D towing was able to lift the truck off of the car without incident. Units were clear of the scene and Rt32 was reopened at 6:10 P.M.
