The Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department had a busy morning with a multi-vehicle crash with rescue at the intersection of Route 32 and Raincliffe Road in Sykesville on Saturday, October 25th around 9:30 am. Deputy Fire Chief, Eddie Ruch Jr (Chief 12-1) and Medic 129 were on the scene reporting at least six vehicles involved with one trapped in a minivan. Request for Trooper medivac was initiated, but the weather storm in the area proved too hazardous for the transport and Trooper 1's response was aborted. Howard County's West Friendship station's crew lead by their Fire Chief, Mickey Day, assisted with the landing site and with the many vehicles involved. Rescue Squad 12's crew worked at a feverish pace and was able to extricate the trapped patient within five minutes of their arrival.
