This morning Sykesville Firefighters spent some time getting familiar with a new tool for stabilizing vehicles that have been involved in accidents. The "Resue 42" vehicle stabilization struts will be insturmental in helping rescuers provide a stable platform while removing victims from vehicles. The struts can also be use for light structural collapse, confined space and lifting/stabilizing various objects.

Without being extended the struts are rated for 18,000lbs of holding force. The struts will be replacing another type of rescue strut that has been used by firefighters for several years.
