Sykesville fire and rescue units were dispatched Saturday night, September 17, to a vehicle collision on the Route 26 bridge over the Liberty Reservoir at the Baltimore-Carroll County line

Arriving units discovered a two car rear end collision. Upon further investigation it was found that one of the patients had fled on foot from the scene and was found on the Baltimore County side of the bridge in a ditch. Crews quickly assessed the patient and determined from his injuries that he would need to be transported to Shock Trauma. The incident commander requested Maryland State Police aviation for the medevac, and Trooper 3 was dispatched.

Sykesville Engine 124 handled the landing site in an open field on Oakland Mills Road near the crash scene. The patient was evaluated, treated and packaged by EMS personnel and placed in the ambulance for transport to the landing zone.

All units operated about an hour before returning to service.
