Sykesville firefighters, along with crews from other area departments, responded to the Chili's in Eldersburg for a grease fire in the kitchen, Monday morning, October 31.

The call was initially dispatched at 2:36 am for an automatic fire alarm at the restaurant on Londontown Boulevard. Deputy Chief Ed Ruch, Jr. arrived on the scene and reported smoke from the roof vents and a smoke condition inside. He immediately upgraded the assignment to a box alarm, bringing additional units.

Sykesville crews on Ladder 12 forced entry into the restaurant and discovered a grease fire in the closed facility. Using the dry chemical system, the fire was brought under control quickly, with only light smoke damage reported. There were no injuries, and the restaurant was able to open later in the day.

Sykesville firefighters were assisted by crews from Gamber, Winfield, Liberty Road and Randallstown.

Units: Sykesville Ladder 12, Squad 12, Medic 129
