Sykesville fire and EMS crews were dispatched to a three vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 32 and Piney Ridge Parkway, Friday, November 5.

Deputy Fire Chief Ed Ruch, Jr. was the first to arrive at the scene after the 11:11 AM dispatch. He reported three vehicles involved with one rolled over on its roof. Chief Ruch requested three more medic units to the scene, plus the Maryland State Police helicopter. Chief Ruch then requested a second helicopter and one additional medic unit.

A mother and two daughters were removed from the rolled-over SUV, assessed by medic crews and flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The remaining four patients from the two other vehicles were taken by medic units to Carroll Hospital Center and Northwest Hospital. The names and conditions of the victims are not being released.

Reports indicated that a car pulled out of Piney Ridge Parkway onto Route 32. The southbound SUV struck the car, rolling over onto its roof and was then broadsided by a northbound vehicle. The Maryland State Police investigated the crash.

On behalf of my mom, little sister, and I along with the entirety of our family, thank y’all for your hard work and for helping us when we truly needed it. I only wish I could meet the man and women that responded on the scene to see what they remember since I was only 2 years old when this happened. We cannot thank y’all enough for what you did that day.
